Ethical & Eco-friendly Gift Ideas

Ethical & Eco-friendly Gift Ideas

The holiday season is almost here again, and although it might look a little different again this year, we’re holding on to hope that we can embrace our loved ones this Christmas.

Being sustainable doesn’t stop with the holiday season and that’s why we have included some of our favourite ethical and sustainable brands in this ethical & eco-friendly gift ideas blog to help you find the perfect gift that doesn't cost the earth and everyone on your list will love.

Sustainable gifts are more than products from sustainable brands which are ethical and eco-friendly. It also means buying gifts more thoughtfully so that they don’t end up as waste. For example, you could put money together with your family members or friends to invest in one or fewer gifts that are better quality and thoughtful rather than buying many unwanted gifts which usually end up as waste.

Buying good quality gifts which somebody could really use means it’s a more sustainable gift. We have collected a few tips to get you started on your sustainable gift shopping journey.

Tip 1: Sustainable essentials – dreaming of a waste-free Christmas?

Are you looking for sustainable Christmas accessories or gifts? Be sure to have a look on Reuzi’s website to help you prepare for a greener festive season. https://reuzi.ie/collections/christmas

Tip 2: Sustainable essentials – locally made gifts for all

Whether you’re looking for beauty products to gift, socks, or homeware, Green Outlook has it all. Their beautiful sustainable gifts are made from local products which are sourced responsibly. With their big variety in products, it’s worth browsing their website during your sustainable shopping spree. https://greenoutlook.ie/product-category/shop-all/gifts/

Tip 3: Experiences

Not all gifts need to be materialistic gifts. Think about creating memories and gift somebody an (online) class. There is a huge variety of (online) classes at the moment, from baking to arts, to sports. It’s a fun, thoughtful gift that also provides a learning opportunity for your loved one. Even more fun is that you can do it together!

Tip 4: Donation – give in your loved one’s name

Sometimes the most thoughtful gift isn’t one your loved one is receiving, it’s giving in their name. There are many impactful organisations out there and what better way to celebrate the season than giving a thoughtful donation in honour of someone you care about? There are numerous amazing organisations out there to choose from. I personally love the impact that Self Help Africa * is having. Many families in rural Africa have no soap or running water. You can change this by giving the Lifetime Gift of a Hygiene Kit this Christmas so families can stay healthy, work, go to school, grow food and earn income

If a monetary donation isn’t an option for you right now you could consider donating your time volunteering in someone else’s name.

*NB: In my professional capacity I am an accountant and a humanitarian and I work with Self Help Africa.

Tip 5: Susty Wear Holiday Season bundles

We have some exciting news. Whether your loved one is eco-conscious or vegan, we have put together Eco-Friendly Gifts That Everyone on Your List (and the Planet) Will Love. Fairly made from 100% certified organic cotton or a combination of organic cotton and recycled materials, these are the staple pieces of the season. And, of course, for many more to come.

Get your special someone a Christmas gift that doesn’t cost the earth: Susty Wear collection.

Happy gifting!
