Blog post - 4 reasons to be optimistic about our planet’s future

Sometimes there seems to be nothing but bad news when it comes to our planet. But fear not, we’re here to save you from eco-anxiety and show you that there are also reasons to be optimistic about our planet’s future. What’s more, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic and we’ve gathered our top four for you.

 1.      Anti-plastic legislation is on the rise in the world

After the European Commission’s ban on single use plastic, France has now introduced a ban on plastic packaging on fruit and vegetables, going as far as banning the plastic stickers on apples. This has come into force on January 1st, 2022. Later in the year public places will need to provide water fountains to reduce the use of plastic bottles, free plastic toys with meals in fast-food restaurants will no longer be allowed, and publications will have to be shipped without plastic wrapping.

2.     Electric vehicles are on the rise

The most sustainable way to travel is by foot but sometimes you simply have to cover a longer distance which requires the use of a vehicle, often the car. Cars are a huge contribution towards global greenhouse emissions and therefore not sustainable. Luckily, a more sustainable car is on the rise: electric cars. More and more electric vehicles are promoted through financial incentives and better infrastructures.

3.    Renewable energy is becoming more affordable and widespread

We all need energy to power our houses, but this contributes towards climate change. We all know the solutions such as solar panels and windmills. Until recently these were too expensive for regular households to afford. Luckily this is changing, and renewable energy is becoming more affordable and widespread which means it becomes easier and easier to switch to renewable energy.

4.    Customers are using their purchasing-power to make a change

Customers are using their purchasing-power to make a change, for example in the fashion industry. Customers are buying more from ethical and sustainable brands and with this sending a message to the bigger brands. Sustainable brands are on the rise.

There are many reasons to be optimistic about our planet’s future but only if we keep up our sustainability journey to make the planet a fairer and more sustainable place. Will you join us on the sustainability journey?
